Majlis president said he wanted to extend Rs. 7.5-lakh medical relief to the riot victims Muzaffarnagar district authorities denied permission to Majlis president Asaduddin Owaisi from visiting the trouble-torn area on Tuesday. The Hyderabad MP, along with a social activist Qamar Alam, was proceeding to Muzaffarnagar from Delhi early this morning when they were asked to turn back since the ‘situation is not good’ in the town. Mr. Owaisi said he was proceeding to Muzaffarnagar only after taking permission from the district authorities. “I was assured security at the border, but after we had travelled 20 km the police told us to go back,” Mr. Owaisi told The Hindu. He said that he wanted to visit Muzaffarnagar to extend Rs. 7.5 lakh medical relief to the riot victims after finding out from the local doctors what kind of medicine was required. He also planned to extend legal aid to the victims.
