Make Sure You Have The Right Corner People…ShhuckZ Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. Psalm 41:9 “Consider carefully what you hear…with the measure you “use it”, it will be measured to you, and even more.” When Sugar Ray Leonard, Muhammad Ali, Julio Cesar Chavez and many others fought, they would go to the corner at the end of each round and be met by people (watch it now) who would REFRESH them…HmMmmmmMM, make sure they were all right, encourage them, give them water, and keep them focus in obtaining the goal for which they were in the ring for. If your corner people—those in your families, those among your friends, those in the church—hit you with a stool, put their mouth on you (Lawd have mercy), and discourage you, it takes away your strength and willingness to answer the bell…ShhooT. Enemies are expected to dog us, lie on us, and talk crazy about us. But when folks who should be close to us hurt us (watch it now), it’s hard to answer the bell. “Where I am is not where I am, its just where I am. There is a Word that is spoken over our lives that cannot fail! Prayer/Confession: Lord Jesus, You know how much it hurts when my friends turn against me. You felt the pain when Judas betrayed You with a kiss. You felt the wound to Your heart when Peter disowned You three times. Your heart ached when all of the disciples deserted You. But that didn’t keep You from going on to fulfill the mission the Father had given You. You stayed in the fight. And even though it appeared for a moment that You had been defeated, on the third day You claimed Your victory! Help me not to be discouraged by what those close to me do or fail to do. Help me to keep focused on the work our Father has given me to do and to trust Him for the ultimate victory. Whatever it is that You are doing in this season, please don’t do it without me.
