Make sure your attempt to walk on water is not in your doubt, but by supernatural faith… Matthew 14:22-33 (22) And straightway (immediately) Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. (23) And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray (Although, the text does not specifically note what Jesus was praying about, I perceive He was praying for His disciples even as He is presently praying or making intercession for each of us in heaven. Could it be with the LORD realizing of our future trials and tribulations that each of us will face, He is praying that our faith will fail not or that if our faith fails, we will quickly recover through receiving His mercy and grace?) : and when the evening was come, he was there alone. (24) But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. (This event was not a surprise to the LORD, for I perceive in His forethought, He knew such would transpire. The LORD is not surprised by the trying events that transpire in our lives. He being eternal knows each trying event we will experience in life even before they transpire, and He has already determined His intervention in each of such events. Realizing such should help us to trust the LORD when we find ourselves in such events. If we love the LORD, we can truly know that He is working all things to our good and His glory or His spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural manifestation.) (25) And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. (26) And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear (We must not be as the disciples and be confused when the LORD is doing something supernatural. Such confusion can be avoided as we strengthen our faith through asking for supernatural faith, believing God for such supernatural faith, comprehending and claiming the promises o the Word of God, and daily walking by supernatural faith and not by sight.) (27) But straightway (immediately) Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. (28) And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. (Peter responses to this situation in his doubt for the word if indicates his uncertainty of who was walking on the water. Sometimes we pretentiously respond to the LORD in our doubt, which will end in our failure like we will see of Peter when he starts out experiencing the supernatural ability to walk on the water, but ends in failure because his experience was rooted in his doubt from the very beginning. Unbelief is one of the main roots of all sin and all our failures.) (29) And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. (30) But when he saw the wind boisterous (Peter in his doubt looks upon the situation and circumstance surrounding this event, which results in fear and his failure.), he was afraid; and beginning to sink (Fear is an offshoot of our unbelief. Such hinders us from experiencing the spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural reality of the person, power, and perfect will of the LORD Jesus Christ.), he cried, saying, Lord, save me (Peter cries out in his fear and unbelief.). (31) And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him (In spite of Peter’s unbelief and fear, the LORD in His mercy and grace helps him. Mercy is God withholding what we rightfully deserve [judgment] and grace is God giving us what we don’t deserve of His favor, goodness, and blessings. I am so thankful that the LORD even in our unbelief abides faithful to show us His mercy and grace. With that being so, even more so what greater blessing would we received from the LORD Jesus Christ if we walked in consistent supernatural by faith? If we are consistent in our faith and humble ourselves in His sight we will then even receive greater measures of the LORD Jesus Christ’s mercy and grace, by faith.), and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? (32) And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. (33) Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God. (Once again, in the LORD’S miraculous movement and manifestation, the disciples recognize or spiritually sense that the LORD Jesus Christ is more than just a man, for He is the Son of God, the incarnated God-man, the Saviour of the world, the LORD of lords, and coming King of kings. Let us look unto Him, by faith. Let us trust Him in our prevailing situations and circumstances. Let us realize who Jesus Christ is as our Saviour, Sovereign God, Supreme LORD, and soon coming King. Therefore, it is as we look upon the LORD Jesus Christ for who He truly is that our understanding is spiritually and scripturally quickened, and our faith is increased to supernaturally walk on water.)
