Make the last day of Summer 2014 memorable! On SATURDAY, SEPT. 20, 2014, grab a bucket, some blankets, and join us at EDGEWOOD Bath & Tennis Club in Middlebury, CT. Well enjoy an outdoor movie on a giant 26-foot screen, free popcorn, swimming in a heated pool, and for the brave among us -- a group Ice Bucket Challenge -- to gather more strength in the battle against ALS/Lou Gehrigs Disease! We suggest an entry fee donation of $15 per carload, with full use of the facility from 4PM through the end of the movie. Schedule and details below! By now the world has learned about the ravages of ALS -- thanks to the viral Ice Bucket fundraising phenomenon. All the money raised Saturday night will support Team Zommer in the New Britain ALS Walkathon next week -- in memory of my brother, Mike Zommer, who died from ALS last year. Theres a photo of my brother Mike attached, in the red shirt, enjoying his 25th wedding anniversary. And the other joyful picture is my brothers new grandson, baby boy Jaxon, born this past Friday to Mikes daughter, Jessica Zommer! My brother Mike represents an estimated 30,000 Americans today, whom doctors have given just two to five years to live. They have ALS and there is no cure, nor treatments to slow down its progression or provide relief. Huge thanks to the generosity of Susan Jones of Edgewood, and to Brett Beatty of Fun Flicks who will donate his companys movie and sound equipment and services, popcorn vending -- plus raffle prizes -- all completely free of charge! Check our teams walkathon progress at the links below to the ALSA-CT Website. Thank you for your kindness -- and hope we can be together for adventure on the last day of Summer 2014 -- at Edgewood!
