Make the most of what youve got has been a motto for many years. Some of my most memorable New Years have been spent working youth residential facilities giving clients experiences theyd either not get or have had. Many wouldnt get to go on leave for holidays or would come back early. In Iowa, wed set the clocks back a few hours, have party favors, snacks, movies, ring in the new year & send em to bed. We were their family, with them day in & day out. Something I tried teaching my children that I was spending time with kids whose family didnt want or couldnt see for the holidays while my children were with family & loved ones. Now, its not a voluntary thing to work on holidays... but Im glad to have the friendships & bonds with a few coworkers that its not miserable either. These guys have been here for the good, bad, happy & sad times this year has brought.... so we have each other, postal family, food & laughs! Heres to a New Year & hopefully continued employment!
