Making Christmas decorations with my littlest one. As always hes talking all the time about this and that, and after a while I just tune it out a little bit ... All of a sudden hes got my full attention, though! Hes happily letting me know that he missed the first half of art class today ... ??? The reason? One of his class mates lost his mother to cancer at the tender age of three. He had a bad day missing her. My son decided that he had some experience to share, having lost his grandfather at the same age. I asked him why he didnt go get a grown up. He told me that sometimes you just need a friend who understands and he understood ... and because Christmas is a celebration of love he wanted to let his friend know he wasnt alone. After a pause he adds: I think helping a friend is more important than going to class ... Need I tell you I didnt argue?
