Malachi 3 vs 7 -12 Yet from the days of your fathers you have gone away from my ordinances. And have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say, In what way shall we return? Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say in what way have we robbed You? In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes in the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this, says the Lord of Hosts, If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field, says the Lord of hosts, and all nations will call you blessed , for you will be a delightful land, says the Lord of hosts. Principles of Malachi we are to apply and live by: * Tithing: A tithe means 10%. God tells us that 10% of our income belongs to Him. It is stealing to not give Him what is Him. He also tells us that we must pay the WHOLE tithe, or the full 10%. We are to honor God with the first portion of all our income before anyone else. We tithe on all profits we make. Proverbs 3 vs 9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the first-fruits of all your increase. When we tithe we are giving 10% of our working time, abilities, talents, life, and energy to the Lord. * Relationship: In not bringing tithes and offerings to God we cause separation in our relationship with God. We know that God desires to have a close relationship with us. God says the first area we are to return to the fullness of this relationship with Him is by bringing our tithes and offerings. * Testing: God will always do what He has said He will do. With respect to tithes and offerings, God invites us to put Him to the test to prove that He will bless us in return as we tithe. * Benefits: God says that if we tithe, He will empty out Heavens treasury, in order to abundantly bless us in return. God also offers us divine protection from the devourer. Let us repent and to the word of God, He wants to bless us abundantly. Shalom
