Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has maintained fuel pump - TopicsExpress

Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has maintained fuel pump prices this month, despite the depreciation of the Kwacha compared to other major foreign currencies. According to a statement released late Wednesday and signed by MERA’s chairperson Lyton Zinyemba, the kwacha depreciated from K412 to K433 against the US dollar, since the previous revision of fuel pump prices. Zinyemba said this had led to the increase in prices of petrol, fuel and diesel on the global market, which would have necessitated another price hike in the country but they have decided to maintain the prices. It means the price of petrol remains at K760 per litre, Diesel at K77O while paraffin is at K638 for industrial use and K171 per litre for domestic use. t.co/1ctUOD9E7s
