Male Cardinal (the males are always the pretty ones!) landed in a bush next to me (in Sarasota) as I was photographing A Great Egret. I can rarely get that close to the Cardinals since they fly off the second they see me. This same bird and its mate have been returning to the area near my house (3 years) and continue to approach a large window and flutter their wings against the glass as they slide down the window. They can see their reflection but Im surprised that they continue this same behavior as it cant feel good! Perhaps they are chasing away another bird which in fact is one of them!
