Malls dish out diverse flavours, fun and fabulous prizes Leading malls in Dubai have stepped up the excitement during the ongoing Dubai Food Festival by offering families and tourists the opportunity to savour a variety of cuisines, an array of fun activities, and also win fabulous prizes. The 23-day inaugural Dubai Food Festival, which was launched on 21 February, is organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), and is aimed at positioning Dubai as the gastronomy hub of the region. The malls participating in Dubai Food Festival are pulling out all the stops to ensure an enriching experience for visitors through promotions and value-for-money deals at their food court outlets, in addition to an array of activities to entertain families and children. H.E. Laila Mohammad Suhail, CEO, Dubai Festivals & Retail Establishment (DFRE), said: “Malls in Dubai are a shopper’s delight and, in addition to offering an extensive choice of brands, they also provide world-class entertainment and diverse dining options. In fact, a range of sit-in restaurants and food courts cater to the multicultural demographic profile of shoppers from around the world. With all that’s in store for visitors during Dubai Food Festival, we invite everyone to visit the malls and enjoy an experience that’s both fun and rewarding. “Dubai Food Festival has not only made a huge impact on the food and beverage sector in Dubai but also given an additional boost to our partners in the retail sector, a key pillar of the Emirate’s economy, along with the tourism sector. The enthusiastic response of the retail sector is reflected in the fact that even shopping malls have joined in the celebrations, giving them yet another great opportunity to boost footfall and sales. Visitors spending AED300 at The Dubai Mall can get a chance to win AED100,000 of fine dining experiences in Emaar Hospitality restaurants while dining outlets at the mall are providing special set menus and offers customized for shoppers. The mall is also introducing a “Mondays in White” dining experience for shoppers featuring themed white evenings and soft entertainment. Additionally, families have the opportunity to watch the Ice Sculpture show at The Dubai Mall from 1 to 7 March and The Chef Magique show, packed with magic and other entertaining acts from 8 to 14 March. Deira City Centre, Mirdif City Centre and Mall of the Emirates are running a ‘Hi-Fi Flavours’ campaign that gives shoppers and diners who spend AED150 at any store the opportunity to enter a weekly draw and win AED10,000 worth of dining vouchers. Further, shoppers who present receipts from any food outlet will receive two coupons that will double their chances of winning. Draws are held every Tuesday evening, 7pm at each mall. The three malls will also be offering families and children various entertainment activities including performances by Jazz musicians from 27 February to 15 March. UK’s latest club act, The Singing Waitresses will be on show at Deira City Centre from 5 to 11 March while a themed Kids Corner, at Deira City Centre from 9 to 15 March will teach children healthy eating habits in a fun way. Mirdif City Centre is set to enthrall visitors with the Delicious Food Circus Shows featuring music, comedy and drama with a Korean twist from 1 to 7 March, the Aerial Show by seasoned artists from 9 to 15 March and the Acrobatic Pizzaioli, featuring exciting Pizza freestyle acrobatics from 27 February to 5 March.
