Malware Tips of the Day !!! I just wanted to pass on this info as I see it repeated quite regularly these days. Too many times I see folks go out and buy a new computer or restore their computer back to factory and the first thing that goes through their mind is I need program a, b and c so they proceed to open their browser and start searching the internet and end up clicking on the wrong links to download from and end up with a new computer with new malware on it. Tip #1 is dont go out searching the internet without protection. In this I mean be sure to install the Web of Trust plugin first so when you do go looking for the programs you need you will be able to tell which are good and which are not. Tip #2 is to be sure you know what program you are looking for and who makes the program. For example if you want to download iTunes then know the Apple makes iTunes and the only place you want to download it from is apple or example two is Picasa is made by Google so the only place you want to download it from is google Tip #3 is do not download apps from third party websites. Most of these sites add something to the program you are looking to download so if you do end up with the right program you most likel;y will also end up with a bunch of other junk you did not ask for. Tip #4 is when installing any program from the internet today be very careful to read each screen during the install and opt out of any extra free toolbars, search engines, trials or other apps that they might try to slip by you. This is very important and where most peoples malware problems start...
