Mama Lanas Nightly Feed Wednesday 8th October:- Penrith Churches of Christ had a great night tonight, taking the BBQ trailer down under the bridge and placing all our chairs around for our patrons. Patrons enjoyed each others company , listening to the strum of the guitar, whilst the meat was being cooked. One of the patrons said He could smell it as he was walking to the trade secret bridge! We were ready to serve at 8, and they were eager to join a queue to choose their meal. Tonight we had BBQ steaks, sausages and onions. Some prepared garlic rolls and bread and butter. Some chose to make a steak sandwich whilst others filled their plates with the variety of salads. We also had fresh garden salad, home made potato salad , roasted pumpkin and beetroot with baby spinach and Brie cheese. They loved the spicy Thai noodles and Mr J said that was his favourite, I have made a promise to him to make it again. Corn on the cob covered in butter was also a hit. For dessert we served fresh fruit or a choice of chocolate or lemon muffins with custard. Everyone came back for seconds, they loved them . 5 loaves of sandwiches filled with Turkey, egg, home made relish also went in a flash. They had plenty to drink and were able to take fresh apples, oranges and bananas home with them along with homemade jam drop biscuits. The 3 tables were full of food, 44 patrons turned up with many new ones as well as our usual enjoyed the banquet and everything went. Vinnies NSW arrived after 9 tonight and they all lined up for their hot drinks and a variety of sandwiches and biscuits. Whilst we were talking, we heard a big Bang and 2 cars collided at the lights in Henry street. All the patrons ran down to offer their assistance, thankfully no one was injured police were called and they all returned to finish their hot drinks and listen to the guitar playing. Police drove around a few times tonight we gave them a wave letting them know we were ok. Great night , great company , everyone enjoyed the evening especially our team who love to do what they can to make someone feel cared for. Love doing what were doing. Until next time.
