Man Arrested After He Carjacked an Undercover Police Officer on Green Street On Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at approximately 9:35 AM an on-duty Worcester Police Detective Sergeant was sitting in an unmarked police vehicle on Green Street. A man approached the Sergeant through the open window of the cruiser with a knife in his hand. The man attempted to steal the unmarked cruiser by threatening the Sergeant with the knife and ordered the Sergeant to get out of the car. The Sergeant was in plain clothes at the time of the carjacking and it appears that the suspect was unaware of the identity of the police officer. Once the suspect realized that his intended victim was a police officer, he attempted to flee the scene. The male was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. He was placed under arrest and identified as Keith Urquhart of Worcester. Keith Urquhart, 51, of 10 Allen Street in Worcester was charged with Armed Carjacking, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife) and Resisting Arrest. Mr. Urquhart will be arraigned today or tomorrow at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
