Man City waiting on Lampard registration Frank Lampard is facing a race to get registered in time to be in the Manchester City squad for Thursday’s game against Sunderland. The Blues are believed to have thrashed out a deal with New York City to extend the ex-England man’s loan spell and there appears to be no issue with registering him with the Premier League ahead of the 5pm deadline today. But the deal has still to be finalised, and if last-minute hitches are not ironed out, Lampard could still be dropped from the squad list – and the deal will probably go through on Friday. When asked about Lampard on Wednesday, manager Manuel Pellegrini made it plain that the initial five-month loan deal for Lampard, which expires at midnight tonight, is about to be extended. “He can be in the squad list without any problem, we are in December,” said Pellegrini. “If we don’t sign a new contract maybe tomorrow he can be out of the squad list. But today he is in the squad list. “It is important for him to stay with us. Today we finish December.
