Man of Steel is a very watchable movie and is a good standard for a modern day superhero film. Henry Cavill does look the part and take on a good job as Superman, but Christopher will always be Superman for me. Henry is the man of steel and Christopher Reeve is SUPERMAN. Amy Adams is a modern day take of Lois Lane with not enough character development for us to really care too much about the full package. How does she keep finding him? There was plenty of not enough character development which including Perry White and other secondary characters. KNEEL BEFORE ZOD:- Michael Shannon was great as Zod; a true believer in fighting for the future of Kyptonians but was limited with the powerful character Zod needed to win the villain status. You are only as good as your villain. Speaking of great villain Antje Traus as Faora-Ul was the show stealer of the Kryptonians villain of third kind. Terence Stamp had better corny line in Superman 2 as General Zod. Character was so colorful and not so series as the modern day movies. FATHER KNOWS BEST: - Good old Russell Crowe as Jor-El is brilliant and a standout performer too. Only Russell can deliver a Marlon Brando quality. Kevin Costner is great as father Kent and l was so happy to have Diane Lane (Cherry Valance from The Outsiders) in this film. IS IT A BIRD, IS IT A PLANE, IT’S A MOVIE :- The Superman mythology is turned upside down, but you can forgive Zack Snyder for taking a modern day fresh story of what we have known and value in the superman world. It does do an interesting take on the Superman world. Remember is called MAN OF STEEL for a reason, not to score touchdowns Clark! We get to spend time on Krypton away from the ice world we have known. Thanks to the world of CGI, we finally get to see Superman throw punches in mid air. Hans Zimmer does not use the John William classic Superman theme we all have grown up loving, but Hans does deliver a wonderful music sore that works magical with Man of Steel. The movie does not has the full chemistry like Clark Kent/Superman (Christopher Reeve) Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) had in the first two Superman movies. Something about story telling from the 1970’s 1980’s is missing from the good old fashion story character development we all grew up with. Good old classic story telling. This movie has that Batman Begins feeling; where the story is told through flashbacks stories of young Clark Kent. But not as dark as Batman. I will enjoy re-watching Man of Steel over and over again but will always have a special Superman 1 & 2 spot in my heart. The Man of Steel is alive and well in Superman, bring on Man of Steel 2. I will be seeing the big screen movie a few times on the again and again. Then I will get the Man of Steel on Blu ray in October. Oh yeh!, go see MAN OF STEEL on the big screen. It’s worth paying to see the movie.
