The timing of Newcastle’s managerial change could not have come at a better time for those of us that like silly season. Have you ever managed soccer, at any level? Congratulations. Hull says he is “fully focused” on his current job of keeping Hull in the Premier League. Considering that Hull is only out of the drop zone by goal differential, he’ll need to focus a little more in the second half of the season. John Carver, who will manage Newcastle this weekend, says he wants to be a full-time manager again. He once managed Toronto FC of MLS, which if you know of Toronto’s history, you already know that that wasn’t a super successful time. He calls Newcastle “a dream job” but also says that he’s waiting for a perfect fit. So, make of that as you will. Carver is being considered for the job permanently.
