Manatee County VOTERS need to be aware the current seated BOCC - TopicsExpress

Manatee County VOTERS need to be aware the current seated BOCC member Carol Whitmore was either “ misinformed” OR LIED regarding animals that were killed offsite. See below clip at the 5 hour and 45 min point from the 9/23/14 BOCC meeting. Carol Whitmore claims these animals “never entered the system” and that the “animals were hit and suffering” ---furthermore she states that these animals were taken to one of 3 facilities, 2 of those being for emergency if after hours. Well Mrs. Whitmore you are INCORRECT until 8/14 we were never able to obtain any emergency room numbers –BUT that month alone 19 animals were KILLED at Beach VET and 6 more were KILLED at the emergency room. So, yes we are well aware that SOME animals went to the ER not just Beach VET we just do not know how many since we were NOT able to obtain that information in Public Record REQUESTS. All of those “animals” were in the CUSTODY of Animal Services. As far as those animals that were NOT counted in save rates that should have –MOST had been at the facility. Here are JUST two examples. Does this sound like an “animal” that never “entered” the facility? Her name was “Lady” she was killed at Beach VET 7/21/14 she was a terrier mix #A066454 , or “kitten” #A066461 killed the same day…. I could go on but I will NOT because it is so sad. I can assure YOU neither animal had been “found in the road” as Mrs. Whitmore claims. In 2013, at BEACH VET alone, 178 animals were “euthanized” . Nathan Winograd’s guidance to the county obtained through emails (PRR) stated the ONLY animals NOT to be counted in SAVE RATES were those found “DEAD” at the side of road. So Manatee County Animal Services SAVE RATE has never been accurately counted. No amount of excuses can change this FACT. Since the public has been “misled”on a matter so simple as this what else is happening? The reality is simple: the problems within Animal Services are just an indication of the systemic problems within Manatee County government . Seemingly there is a “don’t ask, don’t tell” philosophy in use. mymanatee.org/home/government/board-of-commissioners/bocc-meetings/agendas/commision-meeting-video.html?referencedDocumentUUID=83fb43af-4f76-4a71-bb58-96f319cbbaf1 Debbie Glow Scout Blue Agatha Mantanes Terri Wonder Bret Ballenger Katherine McFee Morningstar Betty Kish Carol Griffith Cindy Hewitt
