Manchester United break another record It’s easy to understand why Manchester United have made a habit of going to America in preseason when you see gates of 109,000 crammed in in Michigan to see them take on Real Madrid – as happened this summer in what was a record crowd for a soccer match in The States. And Manchester United continue to break records stateside. Latest reports note that The US witnessed its biggest ever American TV audience for a live Premier League match with an average of 1.41m viewers throughout the recent Manchester United vs Arsenal game. Of course Arsenal played their part too. They have a big and growing fan base in America. But it’s Manchester United who continue to capture the imagination in The USA, despite their poor form over the last year or so. But the game is seriously on the rise as MLS goes from strength to strength on the back of another remarkable World Cup adventure in Brazil. Anyone who saw USA’s performance against Belgium will know that they aren’t just great athletes. America is starting to churn out some real quality footballers. Of the new generation DeAndre Yedlin, for one, hopes to prove that theory when he moves to Tottenham next year. But Manchester United and The Premier League still tend to be the biggest draw.
