Manchester United receive boost in their quest for French defender! Louis van Gaals search for a new centre back could’ve just taken a big twist in fortune. United have been linked with various defenders so far this month, none of whom have really seemed to materialise. The likes of Otamendi, Dragovic & Paulista have all been linked, but it seems LvG is holding out for a more convincing CB, and with this latest piece of news, it seems he wants players with world class potential. Athletic Bilbaos Aymeric Laporte, 20, is believed to be the man LvG wants in the heart of Uniteds defence. Laporte announced himself in La Liga with his glittering performances last season. This season, nothing has changed. He continues to light up the Spanish league and many rate him as one of the best up and coming centre-halves in world football. With his age, he has huge potential and given the guidance of a manager like Louis van Gaal, and the quality of the French national team at the moment, he could certainly flourish. Sky Sports News Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague says that United want a left-footed centre-back to join the club this winter, and if they pay Laporte’s €42m (£31m) release clause then the 20-year old Frenchman would be happy to join the club. He also mentioned that Bilbao expect a bid from Manchester United. Concerns over how Laporte would adapt to the Premier League could be seen as an issue, especially given his youth. However, given his physical presence and brave, old fashioned style of defending, theres no doubt Laporte has what it takes to be a PL defender. Should United sign Laporte? #MUFC
