The ACDP in the Western Cape calls Premier Helen Zille to resolve the matter on the safety of the learners and teachers in Manenberg. ACDP WC Leader and City Caucus Leader Cllr Ferlon Christians says that it is imperative that a speedy resolution be found to secure the safety of Manenberg residents. The ACDP reiterates its call on Police Minister Nathi Mthetwa to deploy the army in the hot spot areas on the Cape Flats to put an end to gang violence. The citizens of the Cape Flats deserve to live in a peaceful neighbourhood. The children of the Cape Flats deserve to have the freedom to play freely in the streets outside their homes without the risk of becoming a gang violence statistic. The youth on the Cape Flats deserve the opportunity to attend school in peace and make the most of their opportunities to become the leaders of tomorrow that they are destined to be. It is the responsibility of the elected government of the people to ensure that they are offered this peace. The ACDP urges the government both Provincial and National to fulfil their responsibilities of offering the citizens the peace in their neighbourhoods that they deserve.
