Mans ego stands in the way of a Martial Artists growth. Every time. Every single time. But, as Master Taylor taught me; Ern, stop trying to apply logic to an illogical situation. ......and this one from Kevin Spacey in Season 1, episode 1, House of Cards. For some, its the size of the chair that counts. One has to learn to be a Black Belt. Your are taught. While the enthusiasm is caught. To teach; its important to submerge yourself in the teachings of whatever you do. Thus, there must be a teacher. Who you call teacher..... What does that mean to todays student? Or consumer. Shopping for a style as apposed to a teacher. Shopping for some one to give rank just for showing up. Shopping for a means to falsely empower themselves through acts of taught violence and arrogance, as apposed to a way of uniting, healing, sharpening and focusing. Way, Do, Discipline. There is a history behind what we do. There is wisdom preceding our process of learned behavior in the Art. For those who seek to learn the whats and hows the Martial Arts has to offer; Listen, watch, cry, smile, enjoy, wipe the tears, blood and snot check your attitude, check your attitude, check your attitude and stop complaining, wining and drop your self entitlement issues before entering the Dojo or calling on your teacher. You picked him/her. On the other hand; for those interested in taking a Martial Art and want to do all those things because youre entitled to it, given your choices by yelp or any other means of choosing a place to lay your complaints, hidden agendas, and untamed passive agressive behavior. Feel free to do so. Thats what those teachers are paid for. Its easier to get a Rank than to be that. One should not seek acknowledgement for something they had no plans to uphold. You can put a sneaker in the oven with frosting and all the fixings. But its still a sneaker. Watch for Sneakers
