Mansfield District Council have provided the following response to yesterdays story about bins not being emptied on Old Bakery Way, Mansfield Woodhouse. (Story here on.fb.me/1mKz6EL) Mansfield District Council has been experiencing waste management problems with the flats on Old Bakery Way since early 2013. Residents have been throwing rubbish bags on the floor of the bin compound and fly-tipping large items such as sofas. New Space, the flats’ management agency, contracted us to clear the bin store in November last year after our bin men were unable to gain access to empty the bins. Following the clear-up, our Neighbourhood Warden and Recycling Officer spoke to residents and posted letters informing them about appropriate use of the communal bins and advice about recycling. The situation has not improved and our bin men have not been able to empty the bins since the beginning of January as the area is overflowing with rubbish. We are currently waiting for New Space to clear the area so that we can empty the bins.
