Many Citizens of Scotland County may be asking, Who is Ralph - TopicsExpress

Many Citizens of Scotland County may be asking, Who is Ralph Kersey?. I was born in 1961 at Scotland Memorial Hospital, Laurinburg NC. I grew up in the town of East Laurinburg, the youngest of three boys. Both my parents were textile workers and they worked extremely hard to provide the best they could for us while teaching us that hard work and integrity are the cornerstones of success. I learned that respect as a person, father, employee, and leader, is something that you earn, based on your actions, morals, and integrity. I am happily married to Angie Williams Kersey, a wonderful wife, mother, and best friend. Our lives revolve around our three children. Our eldest daughter Amanda lives in McColl SC. Courtney our middle child graduated from Western Carolina and currently lives in Laurinburg. Our baby girl Taylor attends high school in Scotland County. I believe life is about others, not self, and we try to impress that upon our children. Outside of work, I enjoy everything the outdoors has to offer; fishing, hunting and training my dogs. I also love to sing and volunteering my time for benefit events to help those in need. I have spent most of my entire life serving my country, state, and community as a military veteran and law enforcement officer. In 1979 after graduating from Scotland High School I enlisted into the United States Marine Corp. I worked hard to move myself through the promotional ranks from Private to Sergeant and I was honorably discharged in 1983. In 1987 I joined the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and served the state of North Carolina for 25 years before retiring in December of 2011. I understand that success is built around the people you are with, not simply by your own abilities. True winning and success comes from working with others to achieve a common goal. As sheriff this is my promise to you, my life, my integrity, my vision, and my purpose, will remain steadfast, and be geared toward the safety of the citizens of Scotland County and the professionalism of the men and women of the Scotland County Sheriffs Department. It is about you, and about them, not about me.
