Many, and I am included are concerned about ths ruling as it relates to our moral culture. However, this is a narrow ruling as it applies to federal tax law and benefits. A probable lesson from this is when you open the door for federal involvement it could swing back your way. After all, the US Constitution is silent on marriage. With that said, the Court did uphold the provision in the law (DOMA) that says no state is required to recognize gay marriages performed in any other state. That provision was not under challenge.
