Many have asked about tonights vote on the proposed IASB school improvement assessment. Here is my statement: I apologize for not being able to attend tonights board meeting. I do however want want to voice my support for the IASB school improvement assessment of Oskaloosa Schools. Its been made clear that there are challenges in education around the state and nationwide, and our district has experienced some of those challenges. In my mind, I believe we have a great team of people here in the Oskaloosa School District that can accomplish great things for our kids. But in order to provide the most excellent education for our students I think this self-assessment is necessary. I firmly believe that no one should feel intimidated by what the IASB might find, but moreso enthusiastic about learning what as a district we need to focus on to be even better. I believe as a district taking this step will prove to be a responsible and proactive way to find ways to best educate our children.
