Many liberal lower critics like to cite Numbers 12:3 -- where the author asserts to be meeker than any other man on earth -- as proof Moses could not have written the Pentateuch. But wouldnt it take immense meekness to state this fact and not be lifted up with pride? Only someone who is meek could declare this, because otherwise they would be lifted up with vain conceit. Furthermore, it is a scriptural tradition for men of God to cite their lives as examples (See 1 Sam. 12:1-5; Acts 20:17-35; I never understood why people say they dont like to use themselves as examples; it makes me think their life has nothing good worth imitating in it and they are less than exemplary. Paul repeatedly told the church to imitate his life, character, faith, and conduct, and exhorted Timothy to do the same. We are to let our light shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven, all the while not letting our left hand know what our hand does in the sense of not patting ourselves on our back.) However, the possibility remains that it was inserted later, as was clearly done with small segments of the Pentateuch (Deut. 34, etc.).
