Many may not know but i am a 5 year survivor of prostate cancer. I was diagnosed at 38 years old and was completely symptom free. Had i waited who knows if id be here. Had a conversation with dear friend whose 46 and it seems hes never had a PSA (blood draw) or DRE (digital rectal exam). He asked his doctor why he hadnt been tested and the Dr. told him dont worry about it. Statistically speaking, public health standards are willing to accept an 80% survival rate, so 20% of deaths are okay. 1 of 6 white males and 1 of 4 black males will get prostate cancer. Seems foolish to gamble with your life. So, if you ask your doctor to test you and he tells you no, make him test you anyway. Early detection is always best. If you are there for an annual physical they are drawing your blood anyway. Whats one extra vial of blood? 35 and over, know your (PSA)score.
