Many members will recall that when I was President of Reepham Rotary I nominated Prostate Cancer as my main charity, and it has always been close to my heart following the loss of my father with it about 20 years ago. Treatments have come on in leaps and bounds since that time but it is still the most prevalent male cancer and quite a number of members have had first-hand experience of it and doubtless share my view. Movember is in my book a bit of fun when men are encouraged to grow a moustache and draw attention to ‘boys problems’ including prostate and testicular cancers and male mental health – none of which we as a gender are good at talking about, but I think we are getting better… do you know that approximately 70% of suicides in the UK are males? We tend to bottle things up, fearing that we shall be seen as weak or whatever and we need to remove some of these stigma. The Movember campaign is trying to address these issues on behalf of us all worldwide and I would invite you to sponsor my tash please, and I will send you regular updates of progress before removal at the end of the month. I have a sponsor page on the internet which can be accessed by going to mobro.co/johntym where you will find a few more details. Thanks for taking the time to read this John
