Many of my GRLs would have known by now. 17 Sep was my last day as Adviser of Hougang. This is a difficult change for me. Over the last 3.5 years, my GRLs, residents and I had built strong friendships. You have accepted me as part of the Hougang family. I am always thankful to you for climbing those grueling steps, walking those many miles around the estate, and never ceasing to amaze me with your passion and energy. Yesterday morning was especially difficult when I visited HG. My aunties and uncles kept coming to me on different issues. We chatted for a long time, albeit leaving the CNA crew waiting. I am thankful to them for entrusting their joys and ills in equal parts to me. It is a privilege! I told them that I would see to their issues being addressed. These friendships and bonds that we have forged do not change. I know and trust that we will look out for each other wherever we might be as we have always done. 岂能尽如人意，但求无愧于心. While I am not able to see through all our plans for Hougang, I am satisfied that I had tried to do my best with the time I had in Hougang. One of you said, Do not worry. We will complete the work that we had started together. That moment filled me with so much pride! We have built an enduring system to take care of our residents well. Hougang is never just about any individual. Our committed team has been serving our residents ceaselessly. I am confident that Mr Goh Chee Koh will be able to lead the team capably with his extensive community experience. I might not be able to thank every of you -- my GRLs, activists and residents -- individually for your support and friendship during my 3.5 years as Adviser of HG. You must know that without you, I would not have survived the tougher times and enjoyed the beautiful ones as much as I did. I am sure that I will have the chance to meet and reminisce on our good old days in our continuing journey of service. Thank you so much and may we meet sooner rather than later.
