Many of our patients at the Leavenworth VA Medical Center have heard about the Veterans Choice Program being implemented throughout the VA. The Choice Program will not impact your existing VA health care or any other VA benefit. Depending of the situation, some patients will have options to receive non-VA health care rather than waiting for a VA appointment or traveling to a VA facility. If you are satisfied with your wait time at Leavenworth VAMC or Community Based Outpatient Clinic, and wish to continue VA care, there is nothing you need to do at this time. Every Veteran will eventually receive a letter and a Choice Card in the mail with details about the program. Non-VA care is only covered by VA for medical needs which have been approved by your VA physician.
