Many of the time I feel so sad as a journalist. So sad because we allow ourselves to be used by economic vampires. Economic vampires who will use stolen stage resources to influence and induce some media guys to ask cooked questions at what is supposed to be a serious press conference after a messed World Cup appearance. No wonder I switched off my TV to avoid listening to and watching the attitude of GFA high table men address what I saw as a rally and not a press conference. Look, we are talking about a country that is saddled with lack of constant electricity supply, incessant hike in water and light bills, deplorable road networks, shortage of fuel, children in the north and Brong Aharfo studying under tress at the mercy of the vagaries of the rains and scotching sun. A country whose cedi is enjoying free fall in value against major currencies, a country whose leadership will unthinkingably carry over $3.5 million American dollars to make 23 players and a hand full of football people happy at the expense of 24 million Ghanaians. The GFA seem to be made up of heartless Shylock people. This platform called press conference should have been an apologetic one. One that would have played on the emotions of the justifiably disgruntled Ghanaian who kept wake to watch the team play in Brazil. One that should have appealed to the conscience of the tax paying Ghanaian who needed answers for our poor showing in Brazil etc. My stance on why the GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi should step down as Management Committee Chairman of the Black Stars have rather heightened. Bringing supporters with banners to what was expected to be a press conference on such a sensitive issue as our failure at the World Cup is a shame. I dare say, this was a rally of any sort but not a press conference. Ghana will have a long way to go if some media guys will continue to allow themselves to be used to mock the nation. Am ashamed as journalist but at least encouraged by the few who will keep keeping high the image of this enviable profession of journalist. Thinking unconventionally. Folks, Sports is Huge!
