Many of you asked me how Koreans spend Christmas and how I am going to spend my Christmas time . This note is only MY personal thoughts and experience . If u disagree with me or want to share your opinion please write in comment box below :) This year I am going to spend Christmas in Korea. In my opinion Koreans don’t pay much attention to celebrate Christmas. Its like more commercial here while in Poland it’s more like we pay attention on spending time with family and share joy of new born Jesus Christ . Of course you can see many colorful decorations in shops and lights and Christmas trees everywhere but I can’t feel Christmas magic. Most of the time koreans has only one day off from work ( 25 th December ) . On this day many couples are going out to some restaurants and exchange gifts with each other. Koreans who doesn’t have a partner just stay home or going to blind date or just meeting friends or spend time with family . Some of Koreans doesn’t have a day off on Christmas day ( most of them are some restaurants or coffee shops workers ) . If you want to go to expensive and good quality restaurant you better reserve a seat for Christmas even a month before ! Ive ever heard that some restaurants denied to serve couples on Christmas day to make single people feel better and give them a chance to meet somebody on this special day. Some Koreans are Christians as well . Next to my home there’s a catholic church and I supposed they are going to have some Holy Mess during Christmas time. Maybe I will join coz I am Christian as well . In Poland we start celebrate with Christmas Eve ( which is on 24 th December ) . On this day we are gathering together and have dinner ( included fish called carp ) in my grandma’s home and exchange gifts. This year I am planning to make some small Christmas Eve for me and husband with some fish as well ;) Seong Uk is IT worker and his company has a day off only on 25 th December. We decided that I am not going to make any Christmas food on that day and we will go to restaurant. Even tho for me Christmas are still on 26 th December as well he has to go to work so I guess I will just stay at home or meet somebody. But PLEASE don’t get me wrong. Its really good to spend Christmas in Korea but just I prefer to be in Poland . Next year definitely I will spend Christmas in Poland . I miss family gathering and awesome and totally tasty Christmas food. Also I feel weird because I can’t go to my grandfather’s grave and light a candle for him on Christmas time . However Christmas time for me is a time for family. Since my husband is my family as well I will spend great time with him and thanks to Skype I will connect with my parents. Thanks all for reading this post and Merry Christmas !
