Many of you have commented on my posts about our upcoming Financial Peace University class we are taking and/or Dave Ramsey speaking at Church this pas weekend, so I wanted to share some thoughts with you... This could get long, but I hope it is as great of a msg and help that you deserve! As I was working out tonight and as I was reflected on the assignment I helped Kelsey with last night where I had to give feedback on different areas for her... If she is weak, moderate, strong or very strong in each area...I reflected with Jake tonight and later I thought.... You gotta give it to people STRAIGHT. There is NO better way! Working out, isnt easy when you start....Its DARN HARD! Eating right, isnt easy when you first try after years of not knowing how.... ITS DOWN RIGHT FRUSTRATING. Putting your life on a budget is NOT easy when you never budgeted what you would spend the month before. ITS STRESSFUL! My point, if things in life came easy, everyone would have them. What are you willing to work for? Fail for and not give up on? Yourself? Your health, fitness, finances, goals, aspirations, DREAMS even? You know me, Im all about Health and Fitness, living my best life, a happy life and for me that has taken YEARS of work. It still takes work, DAILY and it always will. Lately, I have been failing at this budget planning... we are 15 days in and well, I didnt do a good job at planning Sept but that doesnt mean Im giving up, HECK NO! Here are some tips from Dave Ramsey that I am going to continue to work at. 1. Live on a written plan - BEFORE the month begins. You gotta budget the month before where your money is going to go. Do you know what I will be doing Sept 30th? I do, TELLING MY MONEY WHERE TO GO, CREATING OUR BUDGET. 2. Avoid Debt... This means ALL Debt... Including a Car payment.... The rich dont get rich by having a 500 dollar car payment each month. America has more credit card debt than ever. If you dont have the money to pay for it in cash, DONT CHARGE IT. You pay more in the long run, so that shirt that cost you 25 dollars at a 20% APR that you paid on over 3 month just cost you far more than 25 dollars. Think about it. The borrower is SLAVE to the lender. 3. Foster high-quality Relationships. Doesnt seem like it would be related to money and fiances, but Relationships are related to ALL things in your life. You are the sum of the top 5 people you are with most often. If you are around people who make foolish decisions with their money, guess what you are more apt to do? 4. Save and Invest. Dont spend all your money just because you have it to spend. Invest and make your money work for you... this part I havent perfected either, but this is one that is going to get some major focus! You dont have to have a ton of money to invest... You just gotta start! 5. Be incredibly Generous. This is the part I am looking forward to. We give now, but I cant WAIT to give on a grander scale and REALLY help someone. God Loves a cheerful giver and what feels better than to give. Getting fit, healthy, your finances in order, out of debt, changing your life... Its all hard work, but the question is, HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT? You MUST be wiling to do what is tough or accept what you have if you are not willing to change your situation. What will you do to get where you want to be, where you DESERVE to be?
