Many of you know how I feel about paying $1.25 for a dollars worth of goods. Well, heres one that burns my rear end more than a candle this high -------------- Freight rates out of China normally start to drop, like a stone, by October. If you dont have your seasonal goods by then youre cooked. By end of November, like now, it should cost ~$3200 to bring a sea 40 container in from Shenzhen. (That is one of those trucks you see on the high way. About 22 pallets of goods) But because the Teamsters and Longshoremans Unions on the west coast are holding out for who knows what the rates into New York are sky high. One steam ship line just quoted me $4800. $4800 DOLLARS! 50% more. Why? Because no one is going into the port in California, so rates to all the other ports are through the roof. So while the Teamsters and Longshoreman might be holding out for a 5 or 10% bump in their six figure salary, remember them when you are paying more for EVERYTHING this holiday season. And next year. And look for the Union Label, and know someone feathered their bed at the expense of your wallet.
