Many of you know my passion for the original Biblical languages of Hebrew and Greek, and my belief that it is imperative that all believers at least look to the original language in their Bible study rather than just accepting what the many English versions say and taking that interpretation as fact. I have believed for many years that there is a fair amount of error in our many English translations of the Bible...some is due to poor understanding, some to theological or denominational agenda and pandering, some maybe to potential for something much worse - a dire agenda wrought from Genesis 3:15 (look it up)... I have found another error...but unlike the many others...this one seems to occur in just about EVERY English translation, yet when you look the Greek word up...it means the opposite! Some commentaries almost go as far to admit their own insufficiency in the translation that is used in English contained in the pages just before!!! Check it out...I am quoting from my NASB (New American Standard Bible) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who SUPPRESS the truth in unrighteousness, Romans 1:18 The word suppress here in the Greek is Stongs Lexicon Number 2722 The word is Katecho...look it up...it translates to this and I quote Strongs The hold down (fast)...have, hold (fast), keep (in memory), let, x make toward, possess, retain, seize on, stay, take...II - To possess, to hold in secure possession...Romans 1:18 is probably to be understood as possessing a knowledge of the truth, but living in unrighteousness. To suppress means to suppress means to thwart, or to attempt to cover up We know possess means something quite different This knowledge changes the readers understanding entirely! READ YOUR GREEK AND HEBREW, oh Body of Christ Jesus!!!
