Many of you saw yesterdays alarming headline in the Reporter-Times regarding the depletion of the rainy day fund. I too am concerned about this depletion, however, I am more concerned about the citys other cash reserves and how the city has been spending year after year more money than it receives in revenues. Therefore, tonight at the council meeting I made a motion to reopen discussions, which I hope will lead to action of modifying the 2015 city budget. It will be my resolve to look for ways to modify the budget without laying off any city workers. We must be fiscally responsible in our spending and preserve our current cash reserves to insure a brighter future for our city.
