Many of you will see in the news that IRO has taken custody from the AFP two puppies and a cat that belong to the Tiamzons the alledged leaders of the Communist Party of the Philippines/NPA. The three animals were with Ben and Wilma Tiamzons when the AFP took custody of them. I am in contact with the Tiamzons lawyer in Cebu who is representing them to reassure that their animals are safe. In addition to the two puppies and one cat, there are three small mix breed dogs and possibly two cats in the house they rented in San Fernando. I have advised the attorney that we need to get instructions from the Tiamzons through their attorneys in Manila what they want IRO to do with their pets. A possible action with be transferring of ownership therefore making their pets available for adoption or arranging for their family members to retrieve their pets. In the meantime, please remember that people are innocent until proven guilty and that IRO is committed to the welfare of animals regardless of political affiliation. The Tiamzons animals were all well taken cared of and it appears they cared about them so much that they have an attorney looking after their best interest. Will keep you posted.
