Many people are familiar with 2pac the rapper. Not nearly enough are familiar with Tupac Amaru Shakur the poet. The Rose That Grew From Concrete is a book of poems that Tupac wrote when he was between the ages of 18 and 21. Before he was famous. This is a song off of the album The Rose That Grew From Concrete, where numerous artists wrote and performed songs inspired by different the different poems in the book. This particular song is my favorite one on the album, not only because Tupacs poem is read masterfully in it, but also because it features Tupac in his own words at the beginning and end.
