Many people mistake aggression and rudeness with self confidence - TopicsExpress

Many people mistake aggression and rudeness with self confidence and assertiveness. Confident and assertive people are polite, respective and select their battles rationally with a positive outcome. Aggressive and rude people are violent, irrational and loud spoilers of human relationships without any game plan. Confident and assertive people exercise maximum self control. Rude and aggressive people are loose canons and often out of control. The family (home), the community, the school and the workplace environments should work together to mould individuals who are confident, assertive and positive contributors to building cohesion as a foundation of national building. Otherwise, the society will set itself in a self destruct mode with aggressive and rude individuals. Incidences of frequent family aggression, aggressive behavior among learners and their educators, labour unrest in the workplace, and a general propensity to solve differences through violent means point to a breakdown in societal cohesiveness and does require sobriety to take stock and amend what has gone amiss. Violence rarely solves problems. Instead violence begets more violence.
