Many people misunderstood the concept of halal & haram. They think that it only covers the physical aspect like ingredients & processing. Its much more than that; it also covers the social and spiritual angles. Its very aligned with the principles of integrity, honesty, transparency and fairness. For e.g. people may think they earn halal salaries but if they only work for 6 hours instead of required 8, then the 2 hours are as good as haram. Also, if they dont give their best and perform below par, the income is also haram (common for people who had side-businesses while working full time). Or, if they obtain a job/contract outside of approved channel, income is also haram. If they cheat, misrepresent, hiding material facts, give/receive bribes & kickbacks, even plagiarizing, copying without permissions (even in college leading to good degrees leading to great paying jobs)...all these income are haram. So, the bigger JIHAD is to rid ourselves from even the smallest of these stains and work really hard, give our ultimate best in whatever we do, keep improving ourselves so that we can always give our best, be trustworthy and be the most honest person like the Prophet Muhammad SAW....KONGSI2KAN!!!
