Many people will vote for the right party if our political system - TopicsExpress

Many people will vote for the right party if our political system is flexible enough. Many people know that we have problem but cannot pinpoint what we really need to change; instead they keep going in circles. At APC East London, we discovered ‘The winners take all political system’ is one of our problems and it is politically wrong. It has a huge destructive effect on our democracy. That is why many people are confused to vote for the right leaders who can fix our problems much better. People are not voting for the best but for the one that can meet their immediate needs no matter how small. That is why they settled for the political stakeholders who commands, control, evaluate, and then manipulate them. To some extent, we all have talent to sort things out but lack of judiciary backing. This is one of the subjects that baffle and bewilder the best of us. We believe that for every problem there is a solution; now the solution to this kind of problem is to demand for improvement before next election by suggesting we have a Standard Regulation Task Force to see how the national cake is been shared under any party that won election. Nigeria is a huge and tribal nation, therefore, one political party cannot work; and if nothing is done good people will never have the chance to win Nigeria election. We believe we need a plain field for election! There is no self-regulatory system in democracy that is why we have law makers and if they fail to do their duties people should cry out. We just need to act and choose right. In democracy, people’s voice is vital! They do not actually have to have money or power to raise their voices, one strong and consistent voice will gather momentum that may give the under-performing politicians sleepless nights. Merely contemplating monetary loss is sufficient to give us boldness to challenge them. We need to wage war against the godfather system. These people are the big hindrances to our democracy. Most of our elected members are powerless to carry out their manifestos. They always get directive from their godfathers before they can spend a dime from the state’s allocations. This adds to the costs of our democracy and creates an unproductive administrative burden, make them unlikely to do the right thing and overall make our democracy less flexible. Rigidity has made it difficult for people to follow their conscience even if they can clearly see that they are going on the wrong path. All of them are voting on promises of getting very little from the government. To put it bluntly, there is so much uncertainty in our system and this impoverishes minds. The more rigid a political party, the more financially insecure majority of the citizens will be. If we care to research this, we will see that insecurity inherent in rigidity system diminishes people’s ability. Apply this across the economy and pause for a moment to think of the economic loss to the nation which results from so many people settling for nothing in the land of plenty.
