Many (though not all) of us have the basics of capitalization - TopicsExpress

Many (though not all) of us have the basics of capitalization figured out: proper names, days, months, books, and films. After a colon, however, capitalization appears to be a mystery. As in the first sentence, above, do not capitalize the first word in a list. Look: When just one word appears before the colon, capitalize the complete sentence after it. When you have one complete phrase after the colon, capitalize. For example: She corrected his grammar. When you have more than one sentence about the same subject after the colon, don’t capitalize. For example: she corrected his grammar. He always resented her for that. He felt that she went too far.
