Many years ago I threw away an awesome, expensive, stainless steel saucepan - I had burnt carrotts in it and scrubbed & scrubbed unable to get the burned mess clean. Then shortly afterwards I learned about cleaning burned pans with cream of tarter. I learned to sprinkle a generous helping on the burned crust - add a little water - heat to boiling & then turn off. Let it sit overnight - next day it flakes off! How I wish I had known this a few weeks earlier. Been using this hint for over 30 years now....thanks, Heloise!
