Many years ago Wendy and I went to Europe (1972) for the first time, we were there for some six months. We landed in London and went directly to Europe and traveled extensively, and I mean extensively --- we had Eurail passes and went from country to country and museum to museum and overloaded on art. This was in many ways one of the highlights of my life. To see all that art we had only seen in art books and slides in the real --- WHAT A TRIP!!!!!! After our three month tour of Europe we went back to London and we live there for three months. While we were in London we went to everything we could, galleries, movies, plays, lectures, concerts, etc. --- we had very little money but things were not expensive and we saw a lot. One of the highlights, and one of the MOST memorable events/things I ever attended in my life was the play Not I by Samuel Beckett. A stage with a shrouded figure standing there in the dark, a spot light on the lips of the figure, just the lips --- the lips began to speak and for some 15 minutes the lips spoke and it was spellbinding, remarkable. Here is a video I came across of the play, there is an interview with the actress and then the talking lips --- it takes a while to get into the talking lips, but, it is quite powerful, it is not really like attending the play as we were in a large theatre and the lips were a tiny image on the stage, but, in the theatre it was amazing how the talking lips could command the stage, the voice of the actor and the Beckett text were so powerful. This was one of the most amazing experiences I ever had, I have thought about many times over the years --- and all these years later and I can feel the tension and power of that evening. Remarkable, remarkable. youtu.be/ZhzssmWVbr4
