Many years ago someone (dont remember who or when, but probably in the late 50s or early 60s) wrote a story about a then large commercial plane being hijacked on a flight and diverted to a landing strip in the middle of the Sahara Desert where it was hidden, repainted in another airlines color, and armed with an air-to-air missile. The baddies were able to steal an atomic bomb in Italy and transport it to the Desert landing strip. After the bomb was installed in the plane, it then took off toward Washington DC. At mid ocean, in the dead space between the US and European radar ranges, it shot down an identical plane and continued on to Washington. I have forgotten how the hijacked plane was found out, but Washington was saved. Does anyone else remember that story? And is this what we are seeing with the Malaysian airplane???
