March 21 & April 29, 2014: Upcoming Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (the AODA) Review Consultation in Toronto I received the below information from the Town of Ajax - Accessibility Advisory Committee I was appointed to and thought it might be of help or interest to those in Ontario Canada with or without a disability. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Sent: March-17-14 9:27 AM Subject: FYI: Upcoming AODA Review Consultations in Toronto >>> a href=mailto:[email protected]>[email protected]> 3/12/2014 3:46 PM >>> Dear Ajax Accessibility Officer, As you may know, Dean Mayo Moran of the University of Toronto is currently undertaking the second independent review of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (the AODA). During her review, Dean Moran is conducting a series of public consultations in order to hear from those most engaged with the relevant issues. Dean Moran would greatly appreciate you assisting us in spreading the word regarding these consultations. The AODA legislation, as you know, has an important impact on all Ontarians, not just those with disabilities; businesses of all sizes are implicated by the Act and required to comply with its regulations, as is the public sector more broadly. In-person, ‘live’ consultations will be held in Toronto on Fri. March 21 and Tues. April 29 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Interested participants must register (preferably at least 7 days before the consultation session) via the Reviewer’s website at this link: aodareview.utoronto.ca. We would appreciate you spreading the word regarding these consultations, and would look forward to any submissions that your office or constituents might have to make to the Reviewer regarding the AODA. Written submissions by those attending the Reviewer’s public consultations are not required. However, those who wish to present a summary of a written submission at a public consultation must submit their written submission prior to the date of the consultation that they will be attending, using the Comments page at aodareview.utoronto.ca (link). The final deadline for all written submissions to the Reviewer, regardless of whether the submitting party has attended a consultation session, is June 1, 2014. Dean Mayo Moran looks forward to hearing from you as part of this important review of the AODA legislation. And please feel free to circulate this email and the Reviewer’s website address widely! Sincerely, Andrea Russell, Univers ------------------------------------- Origin: ajax.ca/en/livinginajax/accessibleajax.asp ------------------------------------- This email was sent to you by [email protected] through ajax.ca/.
