March 29,2014 19 years ago our family circle was completed with the arrival of a very busy bouncing baby.. and when I say bouncing… yes she almost arrived bouncing on the floor. I had gone to the hospital in the morning because I knew it would be that day.. but when I got the hospital they said I was not ready to deliver. Yet they wouldn’t let me go home because they said the moment I started labour it would be a fast delivery. So I had to wait all day.. wishing they would let me leave but they wouldn’t.( they knew my history of having baby’s fast) .I wasn’t really having contractions.. a few but nothing worth saying it’s time. Finally just past 5 pm.. the show began.. and I was taken into the delivery room ..things were happening quite quickly. They said there really was no time to give me any thing as they figured we were too close to the baby arriving. They would do the checks on me and at about 605pm the dr came and said you are 6 cm it wont be long now. He literally walked out of the room and I told the nurse I was having this baby. She looked at me and said oh no.. not yet you are only 6 cm .. I told her to check me and at first she refused and a bit of a battle ensued… I basically said I am having this baby now please check me… so finally a few minutes later she checked and was like you are 10 cm… and opened the door calling for the dr to get back in the room and He walked in and literally caught Katie as she came flying into this world at 613pm. We were blessed with Katie’s personality and life for almost 16 years. We were honoured to be her family for the time she had here on this earth. She added so much to our already crazy life .. ( having 3 kids in just over 3 years was busy but we loved it) Her spunk , her loud outgoing personality , her zeal for life are all the things we remember. Was she annoying … of course.. what baby sister isn’t?? did she get away with things because she was the baby of the family.. of course.. did she bring smiles to people .. of course. Espescially in her last 8 months of life she displayed so much character, courage and determination and a love for life. We treasure the 15 ¾ years we had with her. We look back at pictures, think of the memories and we know that in her short time she impacted so many lives. We are greatful that she was our caboose in our family. Today we will remember our baby girl with lots of love ( tears mean love ) and fond memories. As always would you consider doing a RAKK ( random act of kindness for Katie) it doesn’t have to be anything major.. and if you don’t have money to use.. offer to babysit for someone, help them with yard work..ect.. there are so many ways to do a RAKK. I so appreciate all those who have contributed to the head shave this summer for Childhood cancer research. I know it seems like we are always doing a fundraiser.. but I guess when you lose a child.. you do things that will change the outcome for other families facing a diagnosis of cancer. I was always involved with helping organizations for many causes. Of course now the passion is where the heart is. With that being said..once again would you consider one of a number of ways that you could help. 1. Donate 19 dollars to the head shave for Katie’s bday 2. Brent’s homemade bread is available for a donation ( it is basically a white bread with rye flour, wheat bran and maple syrup instead of sugar.. he is trying to find a good glutten free one) 3. World’s finest Chocolate s.. I have some yummy treats for sale at only $2 a box 4. We are hosting an event with Stella and Dot jewellery, Miche Bags, Epicure and Steeped Tea on April 11 ( check out the event page) 5. A yard sale at the end of may.. if you have “treasures” you would like to donate please let me know. 6. Also we have a team in the Relay for life at THS on May 24 ( it is a day time one ) come join us Again thank you so much for all your support , your prayers and all you do to help us remember a crazy live loving kid who is celebrating another birthday in Heaven. I know she is having a wonderful day.. ( on a side note the movie Heaven is for Real is coming out soon and I encourage you all to go see it) Tears mean love
