Marching Forward into the Past Posted by BL Bennett on December 25, 2014 I had a pretty good idea where we were headed, even before Obama chose “Forward” as his reelection campaign slogan. To Communists, that word has a very specific meaning. Glenn Beck does an exhaustive history of its use in posters of Stalin, Lenin and Mao here. (MSNBC, employer of White House racism advisor Al Sharpton, uses the slogan “Lean Forward” and has an online show, “Code Forward.”) In racial terms, where we’ve been headed under President Obama, is straight into the past—an ugly part of the past. But, till Saturday night, I didn’t expect to actually jump in the DeLorean and find myself in the New York City of January 27, 1972. That was the night that Rocco Laurie and Gregory Foster, two cops patrolling on the Lower East Side, were shot to death by three members of the Black Liberation Army, which took credit for the murders. While they were dying on the pavement, the killers continued to pump bullets into them. Or perhaps I was in May of 1971, when NYPD officers Waverly Jones and Joseph Piagentini, were shot by two black men who approached them from behind and fired at them repeatedly. That was the BLA’s work also. I shook myself awake, realizing I wasn’t really in the past: No, I never left President Obama’s “post-racial” present at all. It was still December 20, 2014. I had fallen asleep in front of the TV, hearing a Fox News report that police officers Rafael Ramos and Wen Jian Liu had been executed by a black man who shot them point blank while they were eating lunch in their patrol car. Police say the shooter, one Ismaaiyl Brinsley, had posted on Instagram that “I’m putting wings on pigs today. They take 1 of ours ... let’s take 2 of theirs,” in a twisted payback for the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. A few hours later, there were two murdered cops in Brooklyn. Authorities say Grinsley had shot his girlfriend early that morning, in a Baltimore suburb. He then made his Instagram post, along with photos of a silver gun and his blood-stained trouser leg. He then headed straight to New York City—on an apparent mission to murder two cops. Shortly after the shooting, Brinsley shot himself dead on a nearby subway platform. The NY Daily News reported: “A second slay attempt on NYPD officers was narrowly avoided early Sunday when a gunman’s weapon jammed as he took aim at two cops outside a Bronx housing project, sources said.” Another sign we’re reliving the past: I heard the word “pig” applied to police officers for the first time in many years. Why Did the Killer Choose New York City? What is there about New York that makes a guy come all this way to kill police? Aren’t there any cops to kill in Baltimore? Here’s a working theory. Maybe it was because our mayor, the honorable Bill de Blasio, has issued a string of highly charged remarks strongly suggesting that police have a history of racist attacks against blacks. Those remarks left little doubt that he supported the endless protests against so-called racist police. De Blasio even said of his son, who is biracial: Because of a history that still hangs over us, the dangers he may face, weve had to literally train him, as families have all over this city for decades, in how to take special care in any encounter he has with the police officers who are there to protect him. Days later, on December 7th, he doubled down, on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos: What parents have done for decades who have children of color, especially young men of color, is train them to be very careful when they have a connection with a police officer. Even the City Council got into the act. Newsday said that: “City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito called the [Garner grand jury] decision ‘a terribly disappointing outcome.’ What makes this even more infuriating is the frequent lack of accountability, which is why I urge the U.S. Department of Justice to launch its own investigation, she reportedly said. Perhaps Grinsley was also driven by the racial bombast of De Blasios hate-filled sidekick, Al Sharpton—who declared, just before the Garner decision, that he was personally organizing protests in 25 cities over the two cases. Friday, de Blasio met with New York protesters, to discuss their demands, he said. The meeting took place at 1199 SEIU’s headquarters, said the NY Post, which also reported that when asked about meeting with the PBA, he hedged. A letter from Louis Turco, president of the Lieutenants Benevolent Association, quoted by the Post, said this: “Your decision to speak with these organizers can be interpreted as your taking a one-sided stance to address the concerns of the persons responsible for fostering an atmosphere of disruption, destruction and violence,” it read. “What I ask, Mr. Mayor, is that you extend the same courtesy you are offering the protest organizers and establish a dialogue with the police unions representing the men and women, in all ranks [referring to the PBA], of the New York City Police Department.” Meanwhile, it could not have escaped the mayor’s notice that the level of violence was increasingly ominous: Marchers were permitted to block the Brooklyn Bridge (which is surely illegal), where one of the “peaceful” protesters broke a police lieutenant’s nose. Marchers less than a week before the murders could be heard chanting “What do we want? Dead Cops!” A video of that march aired many times on television. The Mayor has not been heard attempting to quell those who call for violence —at least not by this writer. Less than a week after the call for dead cops came the murders of police. It is very obvious that persistent demonization of the police by de Blasio and Sharpton was a strong element in convincing this murderous loon to choose New York to kill cops. In true Obama style, yesterday de Blasio, in a murky statement, seemed to be blaming the media for causing the murders; but the one clear thing he said was that they had cherry-picked the worst behavior of marchers to make the protesters look bad. In a transparent effort to sanitize his image, after the murders, the mayor laid flowers on the makeshift memorial for the two dead cops. He also called for a break in the protests, until after the funerals. Last night, protesters ignored that call, and blocked Fifth Avenue—two days before Christmas. The mayor did nothing about it. But this is nothing new. On December 5th, protesters conducted a die-in at Macy’s. Some, in true Communist form, made statements that they were targeting Capitalism, according to USA Today. It is illegal to interfere with businesses, yet the Mayor did nothing. Why? If this keeps up, theyll be staging a burn-in. The NY Daily News has reported that PBA head Patrick Lynch said of the mayor, during a closed meeting: “He is not running the city of New York. He thinks he’s running a f---ing revolution.” Is he right? The mayor obviously has the power to stop the marches—or at least confine them to an area that doesn’t interfere with life in the City. Did the protesters have a parade permit to block Fifth Avenue, or any of the other streets and roads and bridges they’ve blocked over the past few weeks? They are therefore breaking the law. But de Blasio does nothing. After the destruction in Ferguson and after these tragic murders, the marches obviously must be stopped, before something worse happens. Since the mayor does not stop them, we must assume that the protests are somehow part of his agenda. The Return of “Venting”? Fox News anchor Julie Banderas commented Saturday that usually, protesters in New York are restricted by barricades; but this time around, the police are allowing protesters to block bridges and go wherever they want. Last Tuesday, 2 days before Christmas, they’ve chosen to block Fifth Avenue. Nobody stopped them. Theoretically the rights of protesters do not extend to impeding the rights of others who would like to move freely and are prevented from doing so by the protesters. Are we now seeing a replay of the deranged “venting” policy, which caused a murder in August, 1991 during the Crown Heights riots? The same policy that was so effective this year, in Ferguson that some 25 businesses were torched? If rioters were not being allowed to vent in Ferguson, then it remains a mystery why the Missouri National Guard, called out by the Democratic governor were kept away from Ferguson. A National Strategy The incitement has not been limited to New York City. Rather than usher in a post-racial era, Obama has made police shootings of blacks and white racism his signature issue, beginning with his intemperate statements on the Gates incident, and proceeding to his gratuitous and disgraceful remark that if he had a son, he’d look like Trayvon Martin. It seems such a statement could only be meant to inflame and incite. Quick question: What is it with these guys, using their sons to ramp up the rage? Obama even had to invent a son to do it. There were other provocative acts by the White House, and Congressional Democrats as well. Holder accused states of passing voter ID laws to deprive blacks of the right to vote. Recently, there was this declaration by AG Holder: “While the grand jury proceeding in St. Louis County has concluded, the Justice Department’s investigation into the shooting of Michael Brown remains ongoing.” As if to say: There’s something sordid going on, and we black folks know just what it is. One thing’s for sure: we can’t expect a fair shake from the white-run courts. And then there was the bizarre manifestation of one Democrat member of Congress after another doing the hands up gesture, on the floor, and black staffers stopped work to do the same outside, on the steps. all based on a mythological stance ascribed to Mike Brown by his partner-in-crime. They know better, but they persist in perpetuating the myth because it serves their purpose and promotes their agenda; the truth be damned. Al Sharpton said the president had met with Ferguson, Missouri protesters and told them to “stay the course.” I don’t know if burning down half the businesses in town is part of “staying the course.” On December 1st, Obama said: “I think Ferguson laid bare a problem that is not unique to St. Louis or that area, and is not unique to our time, and that is a simmering distrust that exists between too many police departments and too many communities of color.” That day, he invited de Blasio and Sharpton to join in a discussion of police treatment of black young men. The White House’s discovery that segregation-era racism lives on unabated, in the hearts of White America, and that revival of Jim Crow and lynchings lurk just around the corner is tantamount to breaking the news that a colony of dinosaurs have been residing, unsuspected in the Louisiana bayou. But blacks, exquisitely sensitive about that issue were quick to believe it. Perhaps, now that Obama has normalized Cuban-American relations, he can pardon convicted cop-killer JoAnne Chesimard, and appoint her assistant Attorney General in charge of law enforcement. Race was indeed involved It’s been opined, by many conservative commentators that race was not a factor in the Brown and Garner incidents. I say they’re wrong: Race was a factor in both cases, but not in the way Obama, De Blasio, Sharpton, et al. would have you believe. Both men resisted arrest, one far more than the other. I submit that long-term, superheated race-baiting from the White House, Sharpton and his employer, MSNBC, which has a very large black audience, pumped up both these men to resist more than they might have. In fact: for our “leaders” to declare that the police are racist is not only an attack on cops; it’s an attack on civil society, for it encourages defiance of the law and promotes criminality against actual innocent people. Unquestionably, this constant stream of racial propaganda can roil the passions of many black Americans. But it would have an even more pronounced effect upon a person who is mentally unstable, as in Grinsley’s case, and maybe Brown’s as well. The Racial Justice Dept. at Work Judicial Watch reports obtaining documents that indicate a little-known Justice Dept. unit, the Community Relations Service (CRS), was sent to Sanford, FL to “work marches, demonstrations, and rallies related to the shooting and death of an African-American teen by a neighborhood watch captain,” and “to provide technical assistance for the preparation of possible marches and rallies…” The unit’s stated purpose is to ease community tensions, but we are told that, under Obama they do much more, by facilitating protests. JW cites a story by the Orlando Sentinel which said DOJ employees with the CRS had arranged a 40-mile police escort for college students marching from Daytona Beach to Sanford. The students later barricaded the Sanford police department, demanding the firing of Police Chief Bill Lee. While the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported the DOJ unit was an enormous help in getting both sides to the table, the Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross reported that Ferguson mayor Knowles had said “Two Department of Justice ‘protest marshals’ are in Ferguson, Mo., to help train people taking part in demonstrations….,” which sounds inappropriate. According to The Hill, AG Eric Holder, in Ferguson to personally investigate the Brown shooting, recounted to a group of black college students how he had himself been a victim of racial profiling. Top Down, Bottom Up We have to question just why both de Blasio and Obama have been relentlessly ripping the police. The fact that they’ve both chosen Al Sharpton—King of Street Theater—to assist proves massive protests is the goal. We also must ask: why is the DOJ facilitating protests? A clue can be had if you pause your DVR and read the signs the protesters are waving. Many of them have “SEIU” and “revcom.us”—the Revolutionary Communist Party—at the bottom. A couple of nights ago, many signs bore this motto: “Racism is the Disease, Revolution is the Cure.” Most of the signs were obviously mass produced. Glenn Beck once called this “the oldest Communist Trick in the Book.” Simply, the leftist government (the Top) makes radical change, while in the streets (the Bottom), unions and leftist agitators lead perpetual demonstrations and riots. The public thinks the protests are spontaneous, and doesn’t realize the top and bottom are working together. A good example could be the mayor of New York telling protesters to put the marches on hold until after the police funerals. The demonstrators march anyway—as if there is no connection between them and the mayor. What is the endgame? Top Down, Bottom Up is the means to an end. That end is always more control. Mark Levin recently said that Obama plans to nationalize the police forces. That’s one possibility. A remark then-Senator Obama made on July 2, 2008 has never been explained: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives weve set. Weve got to have a civilian national security force thats just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. Obama, Holder, de Blasio and others who should know better, claim that our nation’s police cannot be trusted because they are racist. The street mobs agree. A great example of top down, bottom up. Will the president now resurrect his call for a civilian national security force to replace local police? Law restricts such a force in a democratic society. But in a police state with a totalitarian government, they are called secret police. Secret police are used to control or suppress political opponents of the government, and to spy on the populace. Their control is based upon fear. In the Soviet Union, the power of the secret police in the 1950s rivaled that of the army, just as Obama is calling for. Shakespeare said the past is prologue. Welcome to the past.
