Marcus Lattimore is retiring...God bless him and his family but at least he got a chance with two bad knees. Most ppl dont get that with any kind of injury. I hurt my back and was perfectly healthy by the time the draft rolled around but didnt get a shot bc I couldnt sell jerseys and the coaching staff at SC wasnt too fond of me according to the San Francisco 49ers scout that interviewed me at my college Allstar game. I also watched Marcus Lattimore day from a hospital bed with a blood clot that couldve killed me; meanwhile he had only hurt his knee the second time but some of my teammates had no idea what happened to me. Not many ppl get the opportunity that marcus did in the nfl. I found out the day after the draft that my medical records from the University hadnt been updated since before my back injury. I found out when I was told by the Washington Redskins personnel that they were interested and wanted me to come to camp but they called me back five mins later when I was on the phone crying to my mom telling her I was going to be a Redskin. They beeped in to tell me they couldnt take me bc I was on blood thinners and hadnt been in all actuality since the previous November. I was crushed but immediately I faxed out all of my updated medical records to all 32 teams. The Jets called minutes later to tell me they wanted me to come to camp and that they didnt know I was healthy and they already filled all of their salary cap but they loved me on film and wanted me to come to camp. I went to camp and did as well as I could in helmets only but they told me they couldnt spend money on me unless I went and got 3 or 4 healthy games of game film elsewhere to prove that my back was healthy and they would pick me up mid-season on the practice squad. I went to play arena ball and got the healthy film they wanted and called them back only for them to tell me all of their positions are filled. I tell you all of this to explain that football is a multimillion dollar business and not many ppl get the opportunity that he did. He had a great career and was a hell of a running back! The good thing is we dont get shot when we cant play anymore like horses do. The sooner ppl realize this the better. Marcus will be just fine when he returns to South Carolina. I was a nobody at USC and I have a pretty decent job now post-football, a loving gf, and family that love me. I love you Marcus and Ill still protect you and block for you to this day if you told me to! I said all of this to help ppl realize that we (athletes) are human and we are not guaranteed tomm when it comes to sports so next time you yell hurt that guy or want to talk crap about a sports figure in the media I hope you think about this and what it took for those athletes to get where they are and that there is life after football. #trueSTORY DeVonte Holloman Gurminder Thind Kyle Mathew Nunn Stephen Garcia Mauricus MoeBoomboom Brown Byron James Jerideau Shaquille Wilson
