Maria Carbonell is a visual artist based in Murcia, Spain. She is currently visiting Toronto and painting a new collection of works. Her artistic practice places focus on the study of the human figure. Her body of work develops into portraits that deal with the concept of identity and perception. Her work incorporates a reflection about the human condition with a particular interest in aspects such as the inevitability of isolation and the awareness of the inescapability of death. Le Cafe 58 x 32, Oil on Linen & Somewhere 70 x 44, Oil on Linen are two of her latest works which are currently being exhibited at Gallery 133.
